Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a patient services specialist to schedule appointments, perform check-in/out, verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and provide telephone triage. The role supports clinic operations and patient access across departments.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of related experience, and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/email.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of related experience required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies and/or obtains all benefits insurance information for patients.
• Obtains authorizations and referrals; assists in collecting copays and balances; offers financial counseling as needed.
• Serves as an insurance resource for clinic staff and stays up to date on insurance issues.
• Handles and answers all phone calls and transfers calls as needed.
• Manages patient appointments according to physician schedules and protocols.
