Job summary

CVHS Health Services in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Front Desk/Medical Records Clerk to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance data, and ensure accurate EMR updates. You will check patients in, secure authorizations, and enter visits and payments into the EMR system.

The role also includes explaining charges, preparing daily reconciliations, handling referrals, and coordinating with outreach programs while promoting a patient-centered practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer experience in medical office environments and with office systems.
• Familiarity with patient confidentiality and EMR workflows.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and direct to proper area.
• Update demographics and insurance data in EMR.
• Check in patients with updated demographics and insurance information.
• Obtain necessary authorizations from outside providers.
• Enter medical, pharmacy, transportation, and other visits into the system.
• Collect payments and explain charges at checkout.
• Maintain appointment records and notify patients of changes.
• Handle referrals and follow-up on no-shows.
