Job summary

Delaware Eye Institute is seeking a diligent Patient Services Representative for our Rehoboth Beach, DE office. This full-time role greets patients, verifies insurance, schedules appointments and maintains accurate records in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be compassionate and can establish confidence and trust with patients.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Highly energetic with a positive attitude.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Create and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently.
• One or more years’ experience working in a medical practice preferred.
• Knowledge of medical and vision and insurances preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Experience with NextGen, Microsoft, Clearwave preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome all patients and visitors upon arrival to clinic.
• Follow all practice policies and procedures for check in and check out.
• Utilize multiple methods of data collection (paper, electronic, kiosk, web).
• Confirm accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and verify coverage.
• Accurately calculate and collect patient copayments, deductibles, and balances.
• Schedule return appointments and set up reminder notifications.
• Maintain confidentiality of doctor, staff and patient information.
• Keep the reception area clean and organized.
• Answer inbound and outbound phone calls with proper etiquette.
• Handle mail and packages; travel between locations if needed.
• Work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required.
