Job summary

Delaware Eye Institute invites applications for a full-time Patient Services Representative in Rehoboth Beach, DE. You will greet patients, verify insurance, manage appointments, and perform clerical tasks in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, accurate record-keeping, and teamwork in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate has at least one year of medical front desk experience, but we will train strong candidates from retail or customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Compassionate and able to establish trust with patients.
• Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure or stress.
• Energetic with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in a medical front desk is preferred (1+ year).
• Knowledge of medical/vision insurance is preferred.
• Basic computer skills required; experience with NextGen, Microsoft, Clearwave is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients and visitors to the clinic.
• Check in/out using multiple data collection methods.
• Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and active coverage.
• Collect copays, deductibles, and balances.
• Schedule return appointments and set reminders.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
• Answer calls with proper telephone etiquette.
• Assist with inventory of retail items if applicable.
• Travel between locations to support front office operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
