Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Hospital Food Service Assistant to provide patient-focused service, including meal delivery, transport, and related duties throughout the unit. You will assist with diet changes, menu selection, and coordination with nursing and nutrition staff.

Responsibilities include delivering meals and newspapers, assisting with dish and linen setup, and safely transporting patients and belongings as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 year of experience in a related role.
• Collective bargaining unit: SEIU 1199-MSH.

Responsibilities

• Advises patient of diet changes and changes in menu with nursing/nutrition.
• Assists patient and guest with menu selection.
• Delivers newspapers and magazines daily.
• Damps and sanitizes surfaces as needed.
• Delivers meals to patient rooms or dining areas with appropriate setup.
• Escorts ambulatory patients to and from areas outside the unit.
• Stocks nourishment and other items as requested.
• Transports patient on a stretcher or wheelchair as needed.
• Transports patient belongings to and from the unit.
• Provides patients with linens, unit literature, and related items.
