Job summary

TTUHSC in Lubbock, TX, seeks a Patient Service Specialist to ensure smooth flow in a correctional facility medical clinic. You will be the primary contact for patients, prepare paperwork, receive patients, and maintain records, while coordinating with TTUHSC staff and security for transport and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Point of contact for contracted Providers for managing and coordinating multiple services.
• Coordinate patient scheduling with TTUHSC Clinical and Nursing staff for off-site clinics/procedures.
• Coordinate with LCDC security for patient transport between facilities and off-site appointments.
• Handle admissions and transport for inpatient and outpatient services.

Patient Service Specialist

This position is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of theflow in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve asprimary contacts for patients and are responsible for preparingnecessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients,and maintaining records. In addition, this position may beresponsible for coordinating other clinic services, responding torequests for patient information, and maintaining relatedinformation for the department. Employees in this classificationreceive general supervision. Most work is performed according toestablished procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referredto the supervisor. Work is performed in a medical clinic setting ina correctional facility and may require a high degree of contactwith patients, facility staff, and other partners.

Major/Essential Functions

• Point of contact for contracted Providers for managing andcoordinating multiple services.
• Effectively communicates daily with Texas Tech UniversityHealth Science Center (TTUHSC) Clinical and Nursing staff tosupport patient scheduling for off-site clinics, off-siteprocedures, and surgeries.
• Effectively coordinates with the Lubbock County DetentionCenter (LCDC) security staff to manage patient transportationbetween facilities and off-site appointments.
• Responsible for daily duties related to patient admissions andtransport for an In-patient medical facility and outpatientspecialty clinic.
• Responsible for gathering and producing various data reportsrelated to access to care and specialty services.
