Job summary

Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify insurance, schedule appointments and collect co-payments at the Riverway location in Buffalo, NY. The role requires strong customer service and accurate data entry, with travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

You will be the first point of contact, helping set a positive tone for each visit. A high school diploma and English proficiency are required; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Able to learn new software and computer systems; accurate data entry.

Patient service representatives greet patients upon arrival, check-in patients, verify insurance information, schedule and change appointments, and collect co-payments.

As a patient service representative, you’ll be the first person patients see when they arrive at Neighborhood, and you’ll help set the tone for a positive patient visit.

About the Role:

As a patient service representative, kindness and fairness are key as you use your customer service skills in patient interactions. You’ll collaborate with other team members to help ensure a smooth flow for the day. Responsibilities include:

• Verifies patient information and makes corrects in the computer system
• Confirms appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in
• Communicates delays to the front desk lead
• Assists in ensuring appointments are confirmed
• Assists in open and closing procedures
• Prints daily appointment schedules and front desk reports
• Verifies insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex
• Inputs insurance information including active/expired dates
• Sends appropriate patient messages
• Assists patients in filling out forms
• Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee
• Adheres to cash handling policy

You will be primarily based at our Riverway location, 1569 Niagara St, Buffalo, and will also travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

Education and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish is preferred
