Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Patient Service Representative at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. The role involves interviewing patients to collect demographics, scheduling visits, and handling registrations in a high-volume environment.

The position requires prior medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology, with a standard 8-hour daytime shift (7:30am–4:00pm). Full benefits are provided by Prime Healthcare.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Customer Service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or their representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics for upcoming visits.
• Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling in other locations.
• Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.
• Processes referrals and schedules patients accordingly.
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues.
• Greets and checks in patients and handles incoming phone calls, routing to staff or initiating messages.
• Coordinates clinic processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing.
