St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Patient Service Representative (Patient Access Representative/Registration Clerk) for the daytime, full-time role.

Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:30am – 4:00pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO.

We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. Joseph Medical Group office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits.

Responsibilities

** To move forward in this position you must have at least 2 years of experience in amedical office setting**

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
• Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
• Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.
• Processes referals and schedules patients accordingly.
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
• Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
• Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
• Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Customer Service experience preferred.
