Job summary

Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Call Center Specialist to serve as the primary link between external customers and the hospital. The role focuses on scheduling procedures, coordinating multiple services, and providing patient preparation information.

The candidate will perform insurance verification, medical necessity checks, and pre-registration tasks while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient-centered service excellence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service and professional telephone/written communication skills.
• Experience in medical office scheduling, insurance verification and/or registration.
• Ability to interact with the public in a calm and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of Memorial Healthcare’s mission, vision, and policies; adheres to HIPAA and compliance standards.
• Answers phones to schedule procedures, tests or services accurately and timely.
• Interviews patients/family, physicians or staff to obtain data for scheduling and insurance verification.
• Instructs patients on approved exam orders and preparation.
• Verifies insurance eligibility at time of service or pre-certification as needed.
• Pre-registers patients per Medicare guidelines and payer requirements.
• Assists patients with financial assistance and explains billing processes.
• Maintains proficiency with hospital information systems and related software.
