Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring a Patient Observer to provide constant observation and a safe environment for patients at risk. The role reports to the Registered Nurse and may perform specific care-related tasks under direction, while other nursing care remains with the nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides constant observation to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Notifies the RN of concerns and observes for behavioral changes.
• Receives and gives handoffs with RN and observer at shift changes.
• Completes required documentation and calls for assistance when needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows established procedures.
• Obtains and maintains active BLS certification and completes trainings.
