Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Patient Observer to provide constant observation for patients at risk, under RN direction. You will perform care-related tasks as needed while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

The role supports the nursing staff and may involve additional ancillary duties when not observing patients. Required: High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification (or within 30 days), and strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent related work experience required.
• AHA BLS Certification required, or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Must have interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families with kindness and empathy.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a safe care environment for assigned patients and notifies RN of concerns.
• Observes patient behavior and notifies RN of any changes or safety risks.
• Completes necessary documentation and handoffs during observer shift changes.
• Responds to call lights and assists nursing staff as needed.
• Maintains active BLS certification and completes required trainings.
