RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Representative to respond to inbound patient calls and schedule appointments for the Barnabas Health Medical Group. The role emphasizes empathetic communication, accurate data entry, and coordinating with providers to meet patient needs. Day shift, full-time position in New Jersey.

Patients will be guided through scheduling with attention to clinical indicators and clear explanations of processes, ensuring a positive experience and efficient access to care.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of clerical experience including at least two (2) years of admitting/patient intake experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting (preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Position requires exquisite communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inbound new and current patient calls for RWJBarnabas Health affiliated offices.
• Schedule first-time and returning patient follow-up appointments.
• Strategically schedule patients to the provider that will best suit their needs based on clinical indicators.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Patient Representative is responsible for effectively responding to inbound new and current patient calls for RWJBarnabas Health affiliated offices and schedule first time and returning patient follow-up appointments, strategically scheduling patients to the provider that will best suit their needs based on a series of clinical indicators. The Patient Representative will schedule patients and handle general questions with genuine empathy, striving to exceed patients expectations on every call.

Qualifications

Required:

• HS Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years of clerical experience including at least two (2) years of admitting/patient intake experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting (preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Position requires exquisite communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
• Highly effective oral and written communication skills are required to communicate with clinical, administrative and other personnel.
• Superior interpersonal skills are important in maintaining a sound public image in dealing with patients, families, and referring physicians.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

Preferred:

• Ability to speak other languages a plus
• Epic Experience

Scheduling Requirements

• Shift Working: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
• Day Shift
• Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week
