Job summary

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) is seeking a Registration Clerk to support clinical services by ensuring accurate patient demographics, insurance data, and intake processing. You will play a key role in maintaining data integrity and smooth patient flow across sites.

The position emphasizes customer service, confidentiality, and collaboration with health care teams to minimize barriers to care. Experience in healthcare settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in clinic, healthcare setting, or call setting preferred.
• Complete Registration Clerk I competency checklist within 6 months of hire.
• MOAB De-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service in person or by phone during check-ins/outs and scheduling.
• Oversee waiting area, coordinate patient flow, and report issues to Practice Management.
• Obtain required patient consents and update demographic information and insurance data.
• Verify insurance coverage, identify co-pays or out-of-pocket costs, to prevent claim denials.
• Collect and post patient payments accurately and reconcile.
• Discuss financial assistance options and ensure applications are completed and processed.
• Connect patients with translation, benefits, or engagement services.
• Follow clinic opening/closing procedures and secure the building.
• If in Behavioral Health Registration, add behavioral case managers to all appointments.
