Job summary

Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas Inc. is seeking a Registration Clerk to support clinical services by ensuring accurate patient demographics and seamless data entry in the EHR system.

You will handle check-ins/outs, schedule follow-ups, and respond to patient questions with exceptional service. You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, discuss financial assistance, and coordinate with translation or engagement services as needed, while following security procedures and HIPAA

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in clinic, healthcare setting, or call setting is preferred.
• Successfully complete Registration Clerk I competency checklist within 6 months of hire.
• Complete MOAB de-escalation training within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service when checking patients in/out and scheduling follow-ups.
• Oversee the waiting area, coordinate patient flow, and report issues to Practice Management.
• Obtain and update patient consents and demographic information; maintain accurate entry in records.
• Verify insurance coverage, identify co-pays, and collect information to prevent claim denials.
• Collect and process patient payments with accurate posting and reconciliation.
• Discuss financial assistance options and ensure applications are completed.
• Connect patients with translation, benefits, or engagement services.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and secure the building.
• If working in Behavioral Health Registration, add behavioral case managers to appointments.
