The Registrar is responsible for the efficient, orderly, and expeditious pre-admission of patients.
Responsibilities
- Enter patient financial and personal demographics into the computer accurately and promptly.
- Obtain signatures, copies, or scans of all identification and healthcare coverage presented. Document reasons if this information cannot be obtained.
- Verify and document insurance benefits and coverage. Obtain necessary pre-certifications, referrals, or authorizations based on benefits, requirements, or contractual agreements. Communicate this information and financial responsibility to the patient or guarantor.
- Follow Front End Collections Policies.
- Ensure accuracy of daily cash drawer, deposits, and balances.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with patients, physicians, hospital personnel, and other customers.

- Comply with requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Adhere to DCH Behavioral standards, including creating positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, colleagues, and oneself.

- Follow all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good clerical skills, including the ability to type at least 20 wpm; computer experience preferred.
- Ability to work well with others in courteous manner, even in stressful situations.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills required.
- Healthcare experience and understanding of basic terminology preferred.
- Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and understand English.
