Job summary

Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Referral Specialist to ensure timely and coordinated patient care. You will be the primary contact for patients and referring providers, handling complex scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes.

You will manage high volumes of calls and registrations, verify demographics and coverage for accurate billing, and support seamless referrals for ancillary, radiology and labs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of administrative experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Experience with scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; comfortable with Windows-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals to ensure timely and coordinated patient care.
• Act as primary contact for patients and referring providers; manage scheduling and registrations.
• Verify demographics and insurance coverage to ensure billing accuracy.
• Resolves pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient’s appointment.
• Complete referrals for ancillary, consultation, radiology, or lab visits including insurance checks and approvals.
