Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Referral Coordinator to serve as a key connection between patients and their healthcare team. You will handle all aspects of the referral process, including authorizations and follow-up, delivering excellent service.

Responsibilities include coordinating with insurers, educating patients, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records while supporting outreach activities across Southeast Michigan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required).
• Minimum 2 years of experience with insurance referrals, prior authorization or related medical office work.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff on referral and insurance information.
• Obtain urgent authorizations same day or next day as needed.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Test tracks referrals until fulfilled by the patient.
