Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant for night shifts in the Nursing Resource Pool/Float Pool. You will perform patient care activities under the RN, focusing on high-risk suicide precaution patients, including hygiene assistance, feeding support, and mobility aids, while remaining with the patient at all times.

Responsibilities include setting up trays, assisting with dining, monitoring safety, and coordinating with the nurse for meals and breaks.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma and CPR or BLS Certification.
• Experience: Able to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic hygiene (bathing, brushing teeth).
• Offer fluids to patients.
• Accompany patients on walks.
• Assist with bathroom or chair transfers.
• Provide diversionary activities to patients.
• Replace nasal cannula as needed.
• Re-apply intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs).
• Observe patients at all times and coordinate with the nurse for meals/breaks.

Position Purpose

Patient safety attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They will be working with high risk suicide precaution patients.

• Setting up food tray, assist with eating
• Assisting patient with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
• Offering fluids
• Accompanying patient on walks
• Assisting patient to bathroom or chair
• Providing Diversionary activities
• Replacing nasal cannula
• Re-applying intermittent compression devises (ICDs or SCDs)

Patient Safey Attendants will remain with, and observe the assigned patient at all times. Patient must be in direct observation. Companions will arrange meal and break time with the patient's nurse to ensure that the patient is never unattended.

Shifts Available

3pm-11:30pm, 11 pm-7:30am

Status Available

Full-time, Part-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.
