Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to support nursing staff in caring for high‑risk patients requiring close observation. The role involves providing basic care, ensuring safety, and assisting with daily activities under RN supervision.

The position supports the Nursing Resource Pool/Float Pool and offers full-time or part-time hours with shifts including 11 pm–7:30 am. Education requirements include a high school diploma and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma and CPR or BLS Certification.
  • Experience: Able to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Set up food trays and assist with eating.
  • Assist with basic hygiene (bathing, brushing teeth).
  • Offer fluids to patients.
  • Accompany patients on walks.
  • Assist to bathroom or chair.
  • Provide diversionary activities.
  • Replace nasal cannula.
  • Re-apply intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs).
  • Observe patients at all times; ensure they are never unattended.

Position Purpose
Nursing Resource Pool

Patient safety attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They will be working with high risk suicide precaution patients.

  • Setting up food tray, assist with eating
  • Assisting patient with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
  • Offering fluids
  • Accompanying patient on walks
  • Assisting patient to bathroom or chair
  • Providing Diversionary activities
  • Replacing nasal cannula
  • Re-applying intermittent compression devises (ICDs or SCDs)

Patient Safey Attendants will remain with, and observe the assigned patient at all times. Patient must be in direct observation. Companions will arrange meal and break time with the patient's nurse to ensure that the patient is never unattended.

Shifts Available

11 pm-7:30am

Status Available

Full-time, Part-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure
