Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT), CNA and MA to support our Short Stay unit during night shifts. You will assist with ADLs, monitor patients, and follow care plans under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, IV access, and accurate documentation. The role requires flexibility for various shifts and exposure to post‑op and post‑procedural patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA or EMT course.
• Nursing students must have completed their BSN fundamentals class.

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• Assist patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices, feeding and menu selection.
• Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and insert/remove peripheral IV catheters.
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate documentation areas.
• Short Stay has 43 rooms with 22 bays and 21 private rooms.

Job Overview

Job Title: Patient Care Tech (PCT), C.N.A, and M.A. (Medical Assistant)

Employment Type: Full time

Shift: Night Shift

Department: Short Stay

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Work Schedule

Shifts Available: 6:30 am‑3:00 pm; 2:30 pm‑11:00 pm; 10:30 pm‑7:00 am; 7:00 pm‑7:00 am; 7:00 am‑7:00 pm

Status Available: Full‑time, Part‑time

Every other weekend and holiday per year required for Full‑time and Part‑time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and insert and remove peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible for recording patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
• Short Stay has 43 rooms (22 bays and 21 private rooms with doors and bathrooms).
• Short Stay unit usually has adult patients greater than 18 years old and treats post‑surgical and post‑procedural patient.
• Length of stay can vary; post‑op patients are 24‑48 hours; mix of observation and inpatient status patients so some patients can stay up to a week.
