Job summary

Confluence Health is seeking pool staff to assist hospital customers with meal selections and to support meal assembly for patients. The role involves using food management software, ensuring safety and diet compliance, and maintaining high service quality in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Shifts are variable, typically 8 hours, with some 4-hour options; early morning to evening hours and some weekends/holidays may be required. Reports to Kitchen Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED-equivalent and one year of related work experience in hospitality, retail or healthcare service fields, OR any combination of experience and education demonstrating capability.
• Valid Washington State Food Handler permit required.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety rules.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with meal orders over the phone or at bedside.
• Submit meal orders using food management software while ensuring patient safety according to therapeutic diet standards.
• Guide patients toward food items aligned with prescribed diets using knowledge of therapeutic nutrition.
• Assemble meal trays with attention to accuracy, safety, and quality standards.
• Serve as liaison between patients, nutrition staff and health care team regarding food and nutrition concerns.
• Handle food per internal standards and regulatory guidelines.
