Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Six (6) months previous experience with patient, family, or physician interaction.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains an organized and welcoming environment for waiting families
• Greets families in the Pre-Operative Center (POC) and directs them to the appropriate waiting room
• Provides updates and serves as liaison to the waiting room volunteers
• Interacts directly with physicians and OR staff and provides the family with information such as; start of case, hourly progress updates (procedures lasting more than 2 hours), case closure, and arrival in the Recovery Room
• Facilitates post-operative communication by coordinating surgeon and family interaction (escorting family to the designated consultation room) at the surgeon's direction
