Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled perioperative family liaison to support families of surgical patients during the perioperative period. This role serves as the communication link between families, patients, and staff and ensures information is conveyed accurately and compassionately.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s degree (Nursing preferred) and have 1–2 years of acute care experience, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Associate’s degree in Related field required.

Responsibilities

• Supports families of surgical patients by coordinating information between family, patient and staff.
• Collaborates with nursing staff, volunteers and surgeons to facilitate private, timely communication of patient progress to families.
• Relays messages between patient family and surgeon and ensures privacy and emotional support.
• Assists families with hospital resources and directions within the facility.
• Escorts families to PACU after surgery as needed and ensures smooth perioperative flow.
