Job summary

Effingham Health System is seeking a Patient Financial Advisor to support non-emergent patients with financial planning and to perform patient registrations. You will verify insurance, educate patients on benefits, and collect payments at the point of service, coordinating with radiology and OR schedules to estimate patient liability.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with health insurance, deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance preferred.
• Strong math and cash handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs registration for all patients presenting for service.
• Obtains, inputs, and transcribes accurate patient data.
• Enters data into the computer with minimal errors.
• Performs as a cashier for payments and maintains cash receipts with accuracy.
• Notifies various departments that a patient needing their services has cleared registration.
• Meets with patients to discuss financing options.
• Verifies insurance benefits and calculates estimated liability.
• Collects payments at time of service.
