Job summary

Effingham Health System is seeking a Patient Financial Advisor to register patients, verify insurance, and educate patients on their financial responsibilities. The role includes discussing estimated liabilities, collecting payments, and coordinating with radiology and OR scheduling to notify patients of expected costs.

Strong attention to detail and confidentiality are essential. Experience with health insurance concepts and customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with health insurance concepts (deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance) preferred.
• 12 months' experience in customer service, patient registration, and/or collections.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect accurate demographic data.
• Explain insurance benefits and estimated liability to patients.
• Process cash receipts and maintain cash accuracy.
• Notify departments of patient arrival and triage needs.
• Counsel patients on financing options and payment plans.
• Scan records into electronic medical records and support switchboard duties as needed.
