Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years in Social Services or Hospital Admitting or related area.
• Familiar with government and county program rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows environments.
• Strong oral and written English communication; bilingual preferred (Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Screen self-pay patients at bedside for eligibility in governmental and non-governmental programs.
• Identify payor sources (auto, Workers' Comp, commercial, private, TPL) and route accounts.
• Obtain and complete Confidential Financial Statement forms; assist with benefits applications.
• Conduct patient/family interviews and maintain documentation of activities.
• Perform financial clearance including collections; pursue accounts for Financial Assistance when appropriate.
• Follow up on government applications and communicate outcomes with care teams.
• Field visits to patient homes for skip tracing or document assistance.
• Notify case management and admissions staff of screening determinations.
