Job summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Financial Counselor to join our team. This role ensures patients have access to affordable care by determining insurance eligibility, completing financial screenings, and guiding patients through payment options.

The Financial Counselor collaborates with front office, clinical, and support teams to maintain compliance, improve access to care, and support a seamless patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in healthcare financial counseling, insurance verification, or patient access preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for insurance coverage and verify income eligibility.
• Complete financial re-screens and update demographics and pay categories in the system.
• Review uninsured patients and establish appropriate payment plans and expiration dates.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and coordinate with registration staff.
• Provide patients with required financial documentation and correspondence.
• Ensure sliding fee scale patients complete required acknowledgements.
• Coordinate emergency visit authorizations as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Support front office operations as needed during slower periods.
• Recall patients for required screenings based on pay plan guidelines.
• Participate in team meetings and support TFHC’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
