Job summary

Duke Eye Center of Mebane seeks a Financial Care Counselor to accurately complete patient financial and registration activities in line with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. You will verify insurance requirements, inform patients of financial responsibility, assist with payment plans, and support timely reimbursement for services.

Qualifications

• High school education required with some postsecondary preferred.
• Two years experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office or billing and collections.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze information, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Analyze patient insurance coverage and benefits for scheduled services to support accurate billing.
• Obtain prior authorizations, certifications, and other required approvals.
• Admit, register, and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Explain patient bills, balances, and payment expectations to patients.
• Assist with payment arrangements and financial assistance options for uninsured or underinsured patients.
• Compile departmental statistics and reports for operational, budgetary, and reporting purposes.
