Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in financial counseling, insurance verification, billing, or access related position.
• Working knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently in a changing environment and manage stressful situations.
• Must be able to speak and write clearly to convey messages to customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and insurance websites.
• Requires travel within Metro Atlanta as needed to cover ASC locations and attend training.
• Demonstrate a high level of professional conduct with colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and community about financial assistance and charity care programs and insurance options.
• Validates insurance eligibility/referrals, schedules, and obtains authorizations as needed.
• Calculates estimated patient responsibility and documents in the data entry system.
• Collects payment at or before service and sets up payment arrangements.
• Maintains accurate data in systems and protects patient confidentiality.
• Provides clinical information to support pre-certification/authorization processes.
• Acts as liaison between clinical staff, patients, physicians, and payors.
• Reschedules/cancels appointments due to verification/authorization issues.
