Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Patient Financial Services Advocate to educate patients and guide them through financially viable solutions for their medical costs. You will interview at bedside, determine eligibility for Financial Assistance, collect payments, and input data into the EMR.

As part of the Revenue Cycle team, you’ll handle insurance verification, referrals to Medicaid/Disability programs, and patient counseling to settle financial responsibilities with professionalism

Qualifications

• Educational requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum experience: Not specified in the listing.
• Preferred experience: One year of healthcare, business office, or customer service experience with healthcare.
• Knowledge of Patient Financial Services processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accepts all patient calls professionally and aims to minimize wait times.
• Confirms insurance status and updates information; handles agency billing.
• Determines eligibility for Financial Assistance and processes applications.
• Counsels patients at bedside on financial concerns and explores payment options.
• Makes referrals to programs like Medicaid or Disability.
• Manages department inboxes and work queues.
• Reviews accounts for Financial Assistance and updates in the EMR.
• Generates letters/notices to patients and partners.
• Recognizes the importance of relationships with patients and staff and participates in training.
• Educates patients and guides them through all options to settle their patient responsibilities.
