Job summary

Duke Health, part of Duke University Health System, seeks a Financial Care Counselor to support pre-admission, admission, pre-registration and registration financial processes with a focus on patient financial clearance.

The role includes analyzing insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and guiding patients through payment options, while aligning with PRMO policies and ensuring regulatory compliance. Evening coverage is required, with a weekday off.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, billing and collections.
• Associate's degree in healthcare and one year of experience with the public.
• Bachelor's degree and one year of experience with the public.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits to ensure timely service.
• Obtain authorizations based on insurance plan contracts and guidelines.
• Document billing system and explain bills to patients.
• Assist visitors and patients with financial questions and payment options.
• Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and manage coverage issues.
• Enter and update referrals and support policy adherence.
