Job summary

Conifer Health at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit seeks a Financial Clearance role to screen self-pay patients for government and other program eligibility. Shift is Saturday-Wednesday, 2pm-11pm. You will route accounts to appropriate payors and help obtain Confidential Financial Statement forms.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years in Social Services or hospital admitting, with strong communication and PC skills; bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal, State and County programs.
• Proficient PC skills: Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Records and maintains documentation of activities on accounts in-house and during the patient accounting cycle.
• Performs financial clearance including collections and flags accounts for Financial Assistance review.
• Cancels non-cooperative accounts and routes eligible accounts to programs.
• Follows up on government applications and communicates outcomes to patients and staff.
• Builds rapport with patients to expedite government program eligibility.
• Conducts field visits for skip tracing and document assistance.
• Notifies case management, social services and admissions of screening determinations.
