Job summary

Conifer Health Solutions is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist at Shelby Medical Center in Alabama. You will interview patients and families to determine eligibility for government and non-government programs, and help them complete the Confidential Financial Statement form.

You will identify potential payors, coordinate with hospital staff, document activities, and support the financial clearance process, including follow-up on government applications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years work experience with Social Services or Hospital Admitting or a related area.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations for Federal, State and County programs.
• Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Screen self-pay patients at the hospital bedside for program eligibility.
• Identify all potential payors (auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, commercial and private insurance, etc.) and route accounts accordingly.
• Obtain and complete the Confidential Financial Statement form and assist with applying for benefits.
• Maintain complete documentation of activities during the patient accounting process.
• Perform financial clearance including collections and refer accounts for Financial Assistance review.
• Follow up on government applications and coordinate with hospital staff.
