Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Charlotte, NC seeks a Financial Advocate to determine patient financial responsibility and coordinate funding options before service. This role emphasizes clear communication and accurate explanations of insurance implications in a HIPAA-compliant setting.

You will explain deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments, and help patients navigate Medicaid, charity care and other programs while arranging upfront payments and feasible payment plans.

Qualifications

• Ability to clearly communicate and proactively discuss issues with management.
• Ability to explain HIPAA and EMTALA regulations in patient interactions.
• Solid knowledge of insurances, billing, denials, and appeals processes.

Responsibilities

• Calculates and communicates patient financial responsibility before service.
• Explains deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments and their impact on care costs.
• Requests upfront payment and establishes payment arrangements when applicable.
• Interviews uninsured patients to assess financial needs and qualifies for assistance programs.
• Coordinates with social workers or vendors to maximize funding sources.
