Qualifications

• Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of prior experience in health insurance, medical office, or hospital.
• Must be BLS certified or provide BLS certificate within 30 days of hire.
• M.A.B certification required; must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Complete Certified Patient Access Course and Specialist Exam within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Cross-train and work across Admitting as needed.
• Explain policies and obtain consents per health plan.
• Assess patient financial status and explain responsibilities.
• Perform quality control on accounts and verify insurance benefits.
• Advise on government programs and financial assistance options.
• Screen for financial assistance and assist with forms and documentation.
• Discuss outstanding balances and help set up payment plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all activities and communications.
