Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years in healthcare billing, collections, insurance verification, patient access, or financial counseling required.
• Extensive knowledge of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable discussing financial obligations with patients in a compassionate and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients and guarantors to discuss insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
• Verify insurance benefits and patient demographics.
• Collect payments and establish payment arrangements.
• Process charity care and financial assistance applications.
• Maintain collection, charity, and adjustment logs.
• Support timely reimbursement and account resolution.
• Audit admission packets and verify benefits and patient demographics in the patient accounting system.
• Provide financial counseling and collect out-of-pocket costs; explain benefits and obligations.
• Complete financial disclosure paperwork for assistance requests.
• Complete charity or administrative adjustment forms for approval.
• Complete promissory notes for payment arrangements.
• Update daily collection, charity, and admin adjustment logs; review weekly with leadership.
• Gather and interpret data to initiate timely actions for payment.
