Job summary

Trinity Health Mount Carmel in Ohio is hiring a Full-time Financial Advocate to support patients by explaining costs, benefits, and payment options, acting as a liaison between Revenue Site Operations and Patient Financial Services.

Responsibilities include counseling on treatment costs, securing payment arrangements, auditing bills for accuracy, and enabling access to Medicaid and other assistance programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2–3 years experience in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration or reimbursement services
• HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA certification required within 1 year of hire
• Understanding of basic billing and coding

Responsibilities

• Counsels patient on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, resources for payment and financial assistance.
• Secures and documents payment arrangements.
• Assists patients in financing, payment plans, financial assistance and all financial options through the organization.
• Audits bills for accuracy & edits for front-end inaccuracies to increase collections and decrease write-offs.
• Works closely with RSO and division leadership to improve collections.
• Experience in the Medicaid Application process.
