Northwell Health seeks a Patient Financial Counselor to advise admitted patients on financial responsibility and self-payments. You will process payments, issue receipts, and maintain a collection log, ensuring accurate financial records and patient communication.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients for financial and insurance information, verifying coverage, and assisting with FAU applications and payment plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
• Experience with patient financial services and insurance processes is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Interviews patients to obtain necessary financial and insurance information.
• Verifies patients insurance and collects additional insurance such as No Fault and Workers Compensation.
• Performs financial assessment of patients; refers potential Medicaid cases to Medicaid Investigator.
• Gathers documentation and assists in the FAU application process.
• Assists patients and/or families in resolving hospital bills; advises patients of their payment responsibility.
• Establishes patients’ pro-rated financial obligations and sets up payment arrangements.
• Follows up on scheduled payments via mail and telephone.
• Processes applications for Section 1011, where applicable.
• Maintains daily work log of payments collected.
• Performs related duties as required and as part of essential functions.
