Job summary

Hawarden Regional Healthcare Clinic seeks a Patient Financial Advocate to assist patients with funding options (charity care, Medicaid, or other programs) and to review and establish payment plans. The role starts at first contact and covers pre-registration through discharge.

Responsibilities include determining financial status during counseling, collecting liabilities, advising on resources and government programs, and backing up the receptionist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1–2 years health care or financial counseling experience preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance and government programs (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) preferred.
• Excellent communication and people skills; able to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients/guarantors to assist with healthcare funding options.
• Review and establish payment options and plans.
• Determine financial status during counseling and collect patient liabilities.
• Act as back-up to Hospital Receptionist and support patient account processing.
