Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to help patients secure financial coverage for hospital services. You will advocate for patients, work with social work and clinical teams, and guide them through Medicaid and Charity Care processes.

You will interact with 20–30 patients per shift, counseling on eligibility, submitting applications, and collecting at point of service in a fast-paced hospital setting. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Available on rotating weekends and holidays.
• Available for 37.5 hours per week.
• Willingness to report to Monmouth Medical Center - Long Branch or other Southern Hospital Sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with eligibility for Charity Care, Medicaid, and other programs.
• Create financial estimates and collect point-of-service payments.
• Communicate with patients, families, and clinical staff to resolve billing questions.
• Collaborate with social work and case management to support discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate Medicaid/Charity Care or commercial coverage updates.
