Job summary

College Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Financial Counselor to monitor patient accounts, verify insurance benefits, communicate out-of-pocket expenses, and assist patients with billing and payment questions. You will also monitor daily POS collections and maintain accurate financial records.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Minimum three months of experience in patient registration, medical billing and coding, medical administration, or a related healthcare field preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, guests, and hospital departments.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• MAB certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately register patients and maintain complete patient and insurance information.
• Verify insurance benefits, coverage, authorizations, and patient financial responsibility.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and correct missing or inaccurate information.
• Monitor point-of-service (POS) collections and collect applicable co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
• Provide financial counseling and explain payment responsibilities and hospital policies to patients.
• Maintain accurate documentation while protecting patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with Utilization Review, Nursing, Admitting, and other hospital departments.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, staff, and healthcare providers.
• Remain organized and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
