Job summary

College Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Financial Counselor to monitor patient accounts, verify insurance, and communicate out-of-pocket expenses. You will also oversee POS collections, maintain records, and assist patients with billing questions.

Scheduled Shift: Monday – Friday | Day Shift. Ideal candidates will have basic computer skills and experience in medical billing, with MAB certification due within 90 days and a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and maintain complete patient and insurance information.
• Verify insurance benefits, coverage, authorizations, and patient financial responsibility.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and correct missing information.
• Monitor POS collections and collect co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
• Provide financial counseling and explain payment responsibilities and hospital policies to patients.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

You will also monitor daily point‑of‑service (POS) collections, maintain accurate financial records, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum three months of experience in patient registration, medical billing and coding, medical administration, or a related healthcare field preferred
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, guests, and hospital departments

Job-Specific Duties

• Accurately register patients and maintain complete patient and insurance information
• Verify insurance benefits, coverage, authorizations, and patient financial responsibility
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and correct missing or inaccurate information
• Monitor point‑of‑service (POS) collections and collect applicable co‑pays, deductibles, and co‑insurance
• Provide financial counseling and explain payment responsibilities and hospital policies to patients
• Maintain accurate documentation while protecting patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Collaborate with Utilization Review, Nursing, Admitting, and other hospital departments
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, staff, and healthcare providers
• Remain organized and flexible in a fast‑paced environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
