Job summary

UCSF Health Medical Foundation is seeking a Patient Service Representative to provide administrative support for patients and physicians within the practice. The role serves as the initial contact for external physicians and the public, demanding superior customer service and clear communication.

Primary duties include registration, scheduling, billing support, MyChart assistance, check-in/check-out processes, payment posting, updating demographics, and resolving billing issues.

Qualifications

• Excellent public relations/customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and physicians.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and basic office software.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones professionally and warmly for healthcare objectives.
• Registers patients and provides information on services, insurance, and policies.
• Schedules and confirms appointments; monitors schedule capacity.
• Performs billing corrections and resolves patient concerns promptly.
• Distributes lab results and scans records into patient charts.
• Maintains patient demographics and insurance information in the EHR.
• Upholds HIPAA regulations and ensures patient confidentiality.
