EmergeOrtho is a North Carolina-based orthopedic care leader seeking a Patient Support Specialist in Wilson. The role greets patients, checks them in, verifies insurance, handles payments, and supports daily office reporting to keep operations efficient.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to manage high patient volumes with composure and accuracy in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service.
• Experience as a check-in specialist is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines and insurance entry.
• Billing/collections experience is recommended but not required.
• Ability to handle high patient volumes.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients; answering phones; patient check-in, registration, and check-out; insurance verification; appointment scheduling; prepare and review charts for appointments; and processing orders
• Maintains open communication with staff and providers regarding patient needs
• Maintains a pleasant and cooperative demeanor while performing duties
• Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries
• Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by phone
• Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of arrival and reviewing delivery vs schedule
• Comforts patients by addressing anxieties; answering questions; maintaining the reception area
• Filing and retrieving patient records to ensure availability of treatment information
• Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
• Maintains inventory and equipment; places orders for supplies; schedules service and repairs
• Assists patients in distress during emergencies
• Maintains confidentiality of personal and financial information
• Follows policies and procedures; reports needed changes; contributes to team effort
• Performs other duties as required by Manager, including travel to office locations
