Job summary

Ascend Vision seeks a Patient Services Specialist to create positive patient experiences by coordinating registrations, collecting co-pays, and supporting front-desk operations in a high-quality eye care practice.

You will greet patients, verify demographics, obtain signatures, manage insurance data, and help schedule appointments while maintaining patient confidentiality. This role requires strong communication and proficiency with office software in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.
• Direct, professional, and knowledgeable interactions with patients, providers, referral sources, and the clinical team.
• Answers telephone calls accurately and with exceptional customer service and ensures the caller’s needs are met.
• Maintains patient confidentiality regarding access to patient and other clinical information via email, computer, fax, and mail.
• Addresses concerns of patients, provides service recovery, and escalates issues as needed.
• Utilizes the scheduling guidelines for patient appointments.
• Completes reminder calls to patients for scheduled appointments, as needed.
• Obtains payment from each patient, including copayments and balances due, and receipts all monies collected.
• Verifies eligibility and registers patients with demographics and third-party coverage at encounters.
• Advises patient on physician referrals and provides notes/updates to referring physicians as needed.
• Prioritizes and completes all work accurately, effectively, and efficiently.
