Job summary

Summit Health Management seeks a Patient Reception Specialist to deliver exceptional patient experiences at our Houston location. You will welcome patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and guide them through visit-related information.

Ideal candidates have familiarity with medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and practice EMR systems, along with strong customer service and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/Equivalency required.
• Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or ER preferred.
• Adept in medical terminology and insurance practices.
• Proficient in the use of computer programs and applications including Outlook and practice EMR systems.
• Competent in basic arithmetic for balancing and making changes.
• Knowledgeable of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, authorizations, referrals, and store them in practice EMR.
• Demographic and insurance validation; inform patients about privacy policies and procedures.
• Keep the reception and patient waiting areas clean and organized.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Greet patients and visitors professionally and welcomingly.
• Communicate schedule delays and assist with patient comfort as needed.
• Collect patient co-pays, reconciliation charges, and balances at check-in; submit batches daily.
• Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups per established policies.
