Job summary

Akumin Operating Corp. is seeking a Patient Coordinator to greet patients and visitors, register them in multiple systems, answer calls, verify insurance, and help patients understand what to expect during their visit.

The role supports mobile and fixed radiology settings, maintains accurate documentation, and assists clinical staff while upholding HIPAA and safety standards across locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for mobile radiology/oncology.
• CPR Certification is a plus for fixed radiology.
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to work at multiple locations and travel as needed.
• Strong customer service, organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems and verifies insurance coverage.
• Answers phone calls professionally and courteously.
• May collect payments for time‑of‑service patient responsibility.
• Provides patient with pre‑ and post‑procedure instructions and documents visits accurately.
• May transport patients and assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area and prepares medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Ensures documentation complies with HIPAA and supports clinical staff with image delivery as needed.
