Job summary

UTMB Health's Angleton Surgical Specialties unit seeks a Patient Services Specialist I to enhance patient experience by coordinating clerical and medical activities, patient registration, scheduling, and access to UTMB services.

Requires Associate’s degree (or equivalent), strong customer service and communication skills, attention to confidentiality, and the ability to work on-site at Angleton/Lake Jackson with standard hours. BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; equivalent experience may be considered.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level customer service to patients, physicians, and staff.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate financial counseling.
• Register patients and verify eligibility and third‑party coverage.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and document communications.
• Assist with billing processes and out-of-pocket estimates.
• Dispositions and adherence to internal controls.
