Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support the service area by checking patients in and out of appointments and delivering exemplary customer service to patients and guests. The role emphasizes accuracy and courtesy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

You will greet arrivals, verify identities, update insurance information, collect co-pays, post payments, and assist with scheduling across clinics as needed, while adhering to policies and standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years experience in a customer service position required.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and guests upon arrival and verifies identity.
• Handles check-in and check-out functions as directed.
• Confirms and updates patient identifications and demographic/insurance information.
• Completes patient registration as needed.
• Collects co-payments and other payments at the point of service.
• Posts payments and assists with end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation.
• Maintains a clean, comfortable waiting area.
• Informs patients of delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments as needed.
• May float to other clinics or departments as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
